Carolyn F. Kuenstner
AGE: 81 • Piscataway
Carolyn Margaret Fry Kuenstner, 81, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at McCarrick Care Center, Somerset. She was born July 22, 1932 in West Chester, PA. Carolyn was raised in Madison and lived in Piscataway for 50 years.
A graduate of the Abington Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Abington, PA, Carolyn had worked as a registered nurse at Fair Oaks Hospital, Summit, and also as a private duty nurse. She was the first woman among the Piscataway rescue squads, serving on the River Road Rescue Squad for more than 13 years, becoming the day crew chief.
Carolyn was honored as "Volunteer of the Year" by the Piscataway chapter of the Jaycees. She had also been active in local civil defense organizations. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the River Road Fire Co. Carolyn had a lifelong passion of caring for people and a love for animals. A member of New Jersey Audubon, she loved birdwatching and especially enjoyed taking trips to Cape May to go birding.
She was the daughter of the late G. Howard and Leta A. Williams Fry. Her family includes her husband of 57 years, Charles R. Kuenstner, Jr., Past Chief, River Road Fire Company; a son, Kenneth C. Kuenstner of Raritan, and a daughter, Cindy L. Kuenstner of Stockton.
A service will be held at The Mundy Funeral Home, 142 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen, on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at 11:00 AM. Cremation will be private. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Cape May Bird Observatory, c/o NJ Audubon Society Hdqtrs., 9 Hardscrabble Rd., Bernardsville, NJ 07924 or via their website at https://community.njaudubon.org/page.aspx?pid=359 specifying that the memorial be designated to the Cape May Bird Observatory.

To Charles, Kenny and Cindy, I have very fond memories of carol. I remember stopping by and talking several times outside of the Fire Co. Carol was always nice and helpful. Most importantly Carol raised a very fine family. Carol will always be remembered by all that came into contact with her.
