Vanslavie, Harriet - Freehold  
Harriet Vanslavie AGE: 94 • Freehold Harriet Vanslavie, 94, of Freehold died August 26, 2015 at home. Mrs. Vanslavie was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. Her husband, John Vanslavie, died on June 14, 2015. Surviving are three sons, John, Thomas and Richard Vanslavie and wife Margie; a daughter, Mary Lou Vanslavie and husband Gordan; her grandchildren, Leah Vanslavie, Nicholas Robinson, and Lilli Bowen; and her beloved friend Patricia White and guardian angel to Jack and Harriet. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Thursday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. The interment will be held at the Brigadier general William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

Vincent L. Vaccaro AGE: 67 • Old Bridge Vincent L. Vaccaro, 67, of Old Bridge died on Monday August 24, 2015 at Kindred Hospital, Rahway. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Parlin until moving to Old Bridge in 2006. Before retiring from the Kilmer U.S. Postal Service he worked for Marine Midland Bank, Manhattan. He loved bowling and was a die-hard New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, as well as an avid "as seen on TV" buyer. Son of the late Alfonso and Antoinette Ferrara Vaccaro, he is survived by his son Michael Vaccaro of Parlin and his fiancee Katy Sheehan; his sister and brother-in-law Mary and Bob Sokol of Scotch Plains; his niece Allison Sokol and his former wife Patricia Dwyer of Parlin. A memorial Mass will be offered on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 9:30am at St. Bernadette's Church, Parlin. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy.

VanRiper, Paula K. (Bonopane) - 67, Branchburg  
Paula K. Van Riper (nee Bonopane) AGE: 67 • Branchburg Paula K. Van Riper (nee Bonopane), 67, of Branchburg passed away on August 20, 2015 at Hackensack University Medical Center after a long struggle with multiple myeloma. Paula was born in 1947 in New Brunswick, NJ to Vincent and Frances Bonopane, deceased, of Somerset, NJ. She attended Franklin High School, graduating in 1965. Paula earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Rider University in 1969, and a Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University in 1997. Paula was the Assistant Dean and Director of Advising in the Office of Academic Services at Rutgers University. She had served as a Dean at Rutgers in various roles since 1992. Prior to joining the university, Paula provided leadership in the Piscataway, NJ community for many years by serving as a member, Vice President, and President of the Board of Education, and as President of the PTA Presidents Council. Diagnosed with myeloma in 1999, Paula founded the Central Jersey Multiple Myeloma Support Group, providing information, guidance, and support to many fellow patients and their families. She had spoken and written extensively in support of the myeloma community, and had appeared as its advocate before legislative bodies. She is survived by her son Ryan Van Riper, daughter Renee (Whitman), brother Richard Bonopane, sister Bonnie (Fochi), brother Alan Bonopane, and cherished grandson Alexander, son to Renee and husband Eric Whitman. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, August 28, 2015 from 10:00-12:00 AM at St. Peters R.C. Church in New Brunswick. Burial will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Route 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876, 908-526-7638. Apolonia "Leny" Viri AGE: 62 • Raritan Apolonia "Leny" Viri, 62, died August 19, 2015. She was born in Hagonoy, Bulacan, Philippines on August 3, 1953 to Ma. Encarnacion C. Legaspi and Leoncio C. Viri. Leny was an LPN at Country Arc Care Center in Pittstown NJ. She was a kind, caring, generous person, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Leny is survived by one dear brother, Crispin Viri; four loving sisters, Juliana Angelo, Remedios Fajardo, Elena Clemente, Clara Ariola; several wonderful nieces (especially her close niece, Wendy (Paolo) Bayotas), nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, relatives, friends (especially her bestfriend, Ma. Aurora), and co-workers. She was predeceased by her parents. Vetter Sr., Walter E. - 93, Bound Brook  
Walter E. Vetter, Sr. AGE: 93 • Bound Brook Walter "Boy" Edward Vetter Sr. passed away on Friday 8/23/2015 in Lebanon, PA. He was 93 years old. He was the last of the "west-enders" from Bound Brook, NJ. He is survived by his six children, Paul Vetter of Bradley Gdns., Frank Vetter of Marathon, FL, Walter Vetter Jr. of Palmyra, VA, Alice Piel of Easton, PA., Nancy Zimmerman of Richland, PA and Corine McMahon of Allentown, PA. He leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by 3 sisters, Margaret Mullen, Eleanor Doerr and Alice Sample. He is survived by one sister, Sally Scarpone of Allentown, NJ. Walter worked 43 years for Bethlehem Steel as a welder. He worked previous to that at GSA Depot in Belle Mead, NJ during the war, after his graduation in 1940 from Somerville High School. Walter was born in Hanover and also lived in Lamington and Pluckemin as a young man. He excelled in baseball and was invited to try out for the St. Lewis Cardinals in 1942. He tried out with Chuck Connor, Walter was 5'6" so he tried out for short-stop and Chuck Connor being 6'6" tried out for pitcher. Walter was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals farm team but had to give it up to work at his grandparents farm in Lamington NJ. His favorite song was "Green Onions" by Booker T. and the MG's. He also loved Nash Ramblers and owned a few himself. He was also a big Pittsburg Pirates fan. There will be a private service for the family. The date for a memorial service has not yet been determined.

Vogel, Robert Louis - Beachwood  
Robert Louis Vogel Beachwood Robert Louis Vogel, affectionately known as "Ranger Bob", 74, of Beachwood, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Middlesex, NJ and was a resident of Beachwood for 36 years. He owned and operated Robert Vogel & Son in Toms River for 20 years. For 15 years, he was a Ranger at the Joseph A. Citta Scout Reservation in Brookville, NJ. He proudly served in the US Army and was a member of VFW Post 9503 of Bayville and American Legion Post 129 of Toms River. Bob enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his cherished family, especially his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents George and Mary Vogel and his brothers Richard and Roger. Surviving are his devoted wife of 40 years Monica (Quintenz) Vogel; his children, Jean "John" Francois Vogel of France, Shawn Vogel and his wife Donna of Knoxville, TN and Nicole Tharp and her husband Dan of Bayville; five adored grandchildren Sarah, Laura, Abigail, Christopher and Joseph; three sisters Nancy Price (Tim) of FL, Judith Franklin (George) of AZ and Linda Bradford of AZ; and many extended family and friends.
