Joyner, Jackie C. - 69, Long Branch
Jackie C. Joyner AGE: 69 • Long Branch Jackie Cornelius Joyner, 69, of Long Branch, died Saturday March 21, 2015 at his daughter's home in Neptune. He was a loving devoted husband and father. He was born in Worcester, Maryland. Jack was a student of Jehovah and his word for many years, and as a student who loved God, he recognized God principles and standards and at Micah 6:8 the prophet Micah reminds us that Gods expects us to be loyal in our love for one another, in other words to love to be kind, to express loyal love and to have an active concern and compassion for others. In the world we live in today to show kindness can be viewed as weakness, but, it takes true strength to be truly kind. Jack was a strong confident man, and he was a kind person and the kindness he showed was from the goodness of his heart and he actually loved to be Kind! Jack was a living example that there is more happiness in giving than in receiving, because he would give you the shirt off his back... with a smile. He had a green thumb and every summer he would grow a beautiful bountiful Garden and he loved to share his harvest with his friends and family. Those Tomatoes and Greens will be missed! Jack was a serious person, but he was balanced and he could be very funny and make you laugh and when he laughed it would warm your heart. Jack took great care of his wife of 45 years and when she became ill he stood by her side and willingly and humbly he took care of her with love and kindness until he lost her in death. A few years later Jack found himself taking care of his youngest daughter who became very ill and he would move mountains to make her better, he took care of her until she died. Yet with all of this going on he still showed love to all! In the scriptures Jesus admonishes us to love our neighbor, Jack loved his neighbors and they became not just neighbors but, friends. Jack was a hard worker and very smart and resourceful, it seemed that he could fix anything, He was lovingly, called MacGyver! He was always working in his yard and if the mood hit him, he would drive to his older daughter's house and landscape her yard too! Jack was not a big man, but he was a giant among man, and he was humble and he would read God's word daily recognizing his spiritual need. Jack will be deeply missed by his family and friends and his dog Nibbles! Jackie was predeceased by his Mother Rosa Evans-Joyner and Father Preston Joyner, his wife Wilma Joyner, and his daughter Tandra Joyner, his brother Preston Joyner, of Delaware NJ, his sister Bobbie Joyner-Barnes of Long Branch. He is survived by his daughter Abbie Joyner-Thornton of Neptune, NJ; son-in-law, Milford Thornton of Neptune, grandson Kent Thornton (Federica) of Neptune, his brother Ira Johnson of North Carolina, 2 sisters, Lillian Joyner-Baskerville (James) of Virginia, and his sister Gertrude Thomas (James) of Delaware, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many close friends. A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Monday March 30th at the Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah's Witness, 125 Myrtle Avenue, Long Branch. The Flock Funeral Home, Long Branch is in charge of arrangements.
