Alfonso Fazzolari, 71 of Perth Amboy, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family. Alfonso was born in Treselico, Reggio Calabria, Italy. He immigrated to America in 1959 working as a tailor. He later returned to Italy in 1966, were he met the love of his life Melina (nee Rustico). Upon settling back in the states, he became the owner / operator of the Capri Pizzeria in Perth Amboy until his retirement in 1995. Alfonso played semi~ professional soccer in the 60's and 70's for the Bound Brook Soccer Club. He also had a passion for his favorite soccer team Juventus and his love for the New York Mets. Our dad loved to go crabbing, playing poker and Bocce ball. He also loved to travel to Italy and Florida, but his greatest love was his 8 grandchildren, Alfonso, Carmelo Jr., Jaelin, Michael, Angelina, Alessya, Natalya, Natalya and Alexis. Alfonso was a lifetime member of the Italian American Tripol Club, Perth Amboy, the Elks Club, Perth Amboy and the VFW, Hopelawn. He was a parishioner of the Good Shepherd Parish at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church. Alfonso was a kind, caring, generous person and he will sadly missed by all who came to know him.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents Carmelo and Maria (nee Pachi); dear brother of Carmelo & Nicola, Rosa & Josephine Fazzolari.

He is survived by her devoted wife of 48 years to Melina ( nee Rustico ); beloved father of Michael, Carmelo and his wife Mary, Antonio and his wife Wanda Fazzolari and Josephine and her husband Ricardo Mestre; cherished brother of Antonio Carmelo, Dominick Fazzolari, Marie Madafferi, Grace Corsaro, Antonietta Proscino and Gina Antonelli; adored grandfather of 8; dear son~in~law of Giuseppina (nee Sansadela) and brother~in~law of Francesco Rustico, dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.

We begin to leave on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 10:15am from the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy for a funeral mass 11 am at the Good Shepherd Parish at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church. Burial will be in Italy. Visiting is on Wednesday 2~4 & 7~9pm.
