Alfred "Fred" Giombetti, age 86, husband of the late Clarie Giombetti of Forked River, NJ, passed away on Tuesday morning December 17, 2013.
Fred was born on August 13, 1927 to Mary and Joseph Giombetti in Jessup, PA.
Fred graduated from Jessup High School in Jessup, PA. After graduating high school, he served in the US Navy
until September of 1949. He lived in Manville, NJ and opened the A. Giombetti Agency - a Real Estate, Insurance, & Mutual Funds Company. He developed the Daval Estates in the 1960's in Neshanic, NJ. As part of the development, he donated land to the Sourland Conservancy that preserves open space in Hillsborough, NJ to this day. His love for Neshanic, NJ grew and he moved his family there in 1966. Fred worked for the State of NJ Department of Transportation as a Right of Way Appraiser retiring after 32 years of service. Fred and his wife Claire (recently deceased) resided in Forked River, NJ for the past 16 years. He stayed active by working on computers and had a passion for stocks and bonds which he shared with all. In March of 1986 he placed 8th in a stock contest sponsored by Barron's Magazine and was featured on the cover.
Fred is lovingly remembered by his son, Al Giombetti, and his wife, Karen, of Ponte Vedra, Fl; son, David Giombetti, and his wife, Dawn, of Forked River, NJ; grandchildren: Adam Giombetti and his wife, Lisa, of Denver CO; Stefanie Giombetti Heleva and her husband, Jason, of Brooklyn, NY; Dennis Giombetti of Lanoka Harbor, NJ; and Dylan Giombetti of Forked River, NJ. He also survived by a brother and a sister, Joseph Giombetti and Esterina Bevilacqua of Archbald, PA along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is planned at Layton's Home For Funerals, 250 Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ on Saturday, December 21, 2013. The family will greet friends and relatives at 2:00 PM followed by a service which will begin at 3:00 PM. A dinner will follow at ll Giardino Sul Mar Restaurant, 2 Hollywood Blvd. & Rt. 9, Forked River, NJ. Interment will be arranged by the family at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a
