Alfred Robert Kersting Sr.

AGE: 80 • Tucson, AZ

Alfred Robert Kersting, Sr., 80, passed away in Tucson, AZ, on January 20, 2014. He was born July 8, 1933 in Mountainside, NJ to Gladys Boyton and Arthur Kersting. Prior to moving to Phoenix, AZ in 1978, Mr. Kersting was involved in numerous youth and civic organizations throughout his life. He volunteered his time to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Plainfield as a vestry member, Dunellen Democratic Club, Dunellen Little League and the DHS Band Parent organization. In his later years Al turned his attention full-time to supporting his grandchildren in their academic and eclectic activities. He never missed an opportunity to cheer them on. He was so very proud of each of them.

Al is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Marion Bacorn Kersting, son-in-law, Constante Agbannawag, sisters, Marie, Elizabeth "Betty", Katherine "Kay" and Virginia, and brothers, Arthur, Jr. and Frankie.

He is survived by his son, Alfred R. Kersting, Jr. (Della) and daughters, Cheryl Agbannawag-Zelenty (Paul) and Lynda Kersting Brinckerhoff (Bill). Also surviving are grandchildren, Antonia and C.J. Agbannawag, William and Alexander Brinckerhoff, William and Zachary Zelenty, and dear friends Jacques and Lisa Doherty Benaroch and Joseph P. Brown.

A memorial service was held on Friday, January 24, 2014 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Tucson, AZ.
