Alvin Baer, 91, passed away peacefully at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick on Wednesday, October 30, 2013. He was born in Exeter, PA, was raised in Jersey City, NJ lived in Union City and North Bergen before moving to Highland Park nine years ago.
Alvin served in the US Army during World War II
from 1942-1946. He earned a master's degree and was the owner of Maxine's, a ladies lingerie store for 13 years. He began a second career in 1962 as a teacher in Hudson Elementary School in Union City, NJ. Alvin retired in 1989. Alvin was member of Congregation Israel Emanuel and a former president of the Talmud Torah in Union City.
He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Eva Baer and his beloved wife Beatrice in 2008. Alvin is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur and Janice Baer, David and Lynn Baer and Jay and Lee Baer, his grandchildren Sara (Ryan), Erin (Adam), Joshua and Allison, his two great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 10am at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. Interment to follow in King Solomon Cemetery, Clifton, NJ.
