Anita B. Minton

Anita B. Minton (nee Bastable), 95, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at Somerset Medical Center, Somerville, NJ after a brief illness. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on September 12, 1917 but spent most of her life in Somerset County, NJ. Anita was educated at the Pittsburgh Conservatory of Music where early on she discovered music and playing the piano was an essential part of her life. After moving to Hillsborough, NJ, she taught piano at her home. She was the pianist & accompanist for Hillsborough High School's annual musicals. In addition she served as the Social Chairman and pianist with the Somerset Valley Player's, where she remained active for 24 years. She was the organist for Christ the King Catholic Church in Manville, NJ from 1970 - 1992. Throughout the years Anita was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Somerville, NJ Elks, The Hillsborough Senior Citizens Group and the Hillsborough Cultural Arts Commission. She was a working member of the Hillsborough Democratic Party, serving on the election boards and was employed at the Somerset County Office on Aging for 15 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene & Marion Bastable as well as her husband, Joseph H. Minton, who passed in 1976. Surviving are her children, son, Jeffrey J. Minton (Marjorie) of Langhorne, PA, daughter, Ellen McClintock of Portsmouth, VA, and daughter, Kim Mooney (William) of Lebanon, NJ; four grandchildren, Stephen Minton (Jennifer) of Philadelphia, PA, Stephanie Minton of Hightstown, NJ, Stacy McClintock of Newport News, VA, and Kaitlyn Mooney of Hoboken, NJ; two great-grandchildren, Tabitha and Kyler Minton. Anita will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. She was a truly inspirational woman who always chose to view life as an adventure holding a glass that was ½ full.
Visitation will be Monday, November 19, 2012, from 2-4pm & 7-9pm at Cusick's Funeral Home, Mountain Ave, Somerville, NJ. Family and Friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 11:00 for a funeral service.
