Anthony (Tony) O. DeGregorio Sr.

AGE: 83 • Tinton Falls

Tony DeGregorio entered God's hands on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013. Born and raised in Newark, Tony lived in New Vernon and Middletown before moving to Tinton Falls 21 years ago. While working at Bell Labs and raising a family, Tony graduated from Rutgers University. He later transferred to AT&T, retiring after 35 years of service. In addition to working for AT&T, Tony operated a part-time financial planning and accounting business (In, Inc), which he transformed into a full-time business after retiring from AT&T. Tony was active in scouting and served as a leader for many years. For 19 years, Tony was involved in Pre-Cana. As a Karios member, he served as a spiritual advisor to prison inmates. Tony was also an avid tennis player.

Tony was predeceased by his parents, Otto & Teresa DeGregorio. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Margherita (nee Bracuto). His light continues to shine through his eight children, Terry & Mickey Hyland, Frank DeGregorio, Maria & Kurt Lawn, Anthony & Amy DeGregorio, Regina & Mike Ruther, Roseann DeGregorio, Christine & Eric Hoover, and Angela & Kevin White. He will be dearly missed by his 17 grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at St. Leo the Great Church, 50 Hurleys Lane, Lincroft followed by a "Celebration of Life Mass." Please consider memorial contributions to St. Vincent's Academy, Development Office, 228 W. Market St., Newark, NJ 07103, www.svanj.org.
