Catherine "Kay" Holsten Mechkowski, 79, died peacefully on May 17, 2013 in Helmetta. Catherine was born in Union and was raised in South Brunswick. She later resided in Helmetta then Seaford, DE, then coming home to Helmetta in 2013. Kay was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and was a former member of the Marine Corp. Ladies Auxiliary. She was a communicant of St. James the Less RC Church, Jamesburg and Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Seaford, DE. Kay enjoyed playing the slots.

Kay is preceded in death by her husband, John R. Mechkowski (2013); two brothers, Charles and Frederick Holsten; and a sister, Dorothy Davis. Kay is survived by four sons, John Jr. of Portland, TN, Stephen of Helmetta, NJ, James of Hayden, ID, and Timothy of Helmetta, NJ; a daughter, Kathryn Mangano of Helmetta, NJ; seven grandsons, John III, James II, Shawn, Tyler, and Joshua Mechkowski, John Paul II and Nicholas Mangano; two granddaughters, Jennifer Mechkowski and Alexis Semeniuk, a sister, Marie Schwab and two brothers, Robert and Donald Holsten.

Funeral services will begin Tuesday, May 21st at 9:45am from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe Twp. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30am at St. James the Less RC Church, 36 Lincoln Ave., Jamesburg. Committal service and interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, May 20th from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kay's name to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care.
