Deacon Charles G. Barco Sr.

Deacon Charles G. Barco, Sr., 76, died Wed. Dec. 11, 2013 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Deepcreek, Va., he lived in Bridgeton, NJ before moving to Plainfield in 1968. He was formerly employed with Chrysler Automotive in Wilmington, Del. for 15 years, Costa Ice Cream in Avenel and Ortho Pharmaceutical in Somerset.

He was a former member of Miracle Baptist Church in Plainfield where he was ordained a deacon, served as an usher and Sunday school teacher. Deacon Barco is a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Plainfield where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Ministry, former director of the youth church and Saturday men's Bible study teacher. He was also a member of the North Jersey District Men's Fellowship. His other membership was as an inactive member of Silver Bow Lodge #58 A.F. & A. M. in Plainfield. Deacon Barco also served in the U. S. Air force.

His grandson George H. Jackson, II predeceased him in June 2013. Surviving are his wife Dorothy H. Barco; two daughters Sharon Harris and Michelle Barco-Deck (Calvin); two sons Johnathan (Loretta) and Charles G. Barco, Jr. (Sonya); 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a sister Nora Bell Harper and nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and his Calvary Baptist Church family.

Viewing Wed. 6-9 pm in Calvary Baptist Church, 324 Monroe Ave., Plainfield. Funeral Thurs. 9am in the church. Interment, Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown. Arrangements by Brown's Funeral Home.
