Charlotte W. Hornsby, age 93, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013 from age related complications. Born on March 31, 1920 under the name of Charlotte Ann White in Janesville, WI, to John and Mary White, her family relocated to Matawan, N.J. in 1922. After graduating from Coleman's Business College in 1938, Charlotte was employed by Lavoie Labs in Morganville, where she met her future husband, Alexander J. Chase. When they wed, in 1949, Charlotte became step-mother to daughter Geraldine . They went on to have three more children, Donna, Cathy & Tom Chase. Alexander predeceased Charlotte in 1959. Charlotte was then employed by Eaton Corp., where she enjoyed her work as a secretary. In 1968, Charlotte wed her second husband, Louis T. Horsnby and they soon relocated to Cranford, N.J. Upon retirement they moved to Leisure Village East in Lakewood where she enjoyed dancing, golf and bridge as well as helping out with the Leisure Times newsletter. Lou preceded her in death. Charlotte is best known for having many lifelong friendships, her generosity and her participation in St. Dominic's parish.

In addition to her children, Charlotte is survived by her brother, John White, his sons Mark and Lawrence, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 -4 & 7-9 p.m. at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Dominic's Church, 250 Old Squan Rd., Brick, N.J. 08724. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport, NJ.
