Clarence Ralph Robbins, 74, the younger son of the late Delmar C. Robbins and Ethel L. Johnson Robbins made his passage to Heaven on Friday, March 1st, 2013 from the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont Florida. He was born in Point Marion, Pennsylvania on August 25th, 1938.He received his BS degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1961, and in the same year on June 11th, married his treasured spouse, Marjorie Gene (Johnson). After receiving his PhD in Organic Chemistry from Purdue University, Dr. Robbins accepted a position with Colgate-Palmolive, and moved with their daughter, Laurie, to Piscataway, New Jersey, where they welcomed their second child, Mark. They made Piscataway their home for many years, before "moving up the hill" to Martinsville, New Jersey. Professionally, Clarence became a world renowned expert in hair and cosmetic research. In addition to other numerous publications, he is the author of The Chemical and Physical Behavior of Human Hair, which in its fifth edition is lauded as the seminal authority for cosmetic chemists and academic researchers globally. He was a member of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists and a recipient of the prestigious Maisson G. DeNavarre Gold Medal award in 1989. In 1999, Dr. Robbins retired as Vice President of Research and Development at Colgate, to "spend more time with his magical Genie". He continued to work as a consultant for multiple corporations, including Proctor and Gamble. Personally, Clarence was a lifelong devoted mentor to young scientists with whom he worked.As a son of a Methodist minister, he served as lay minister at the Bound Brook Methodist Church in Bound Brook New Jersey, where he and his wife were actively involved for many years before moving to Florida. An artist as well as a scientist, Clarence enjoyed traveling, oil painting, and developed his interest in photography into a professional level skill. He was also an avid reader, with interests in philosophy, religion, history, and politics. Clarence's loyalty and devotion to his family was exceptional.

He is survived by family and friends who will forever cherish his generosity, kindness, sense of humor, integrity, and especially, his gift of love.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Robbins were held at on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in the Becker Chapel with Reverend Melanie Ruta officiating.
