Cpl. Christopher E. Roy

U.S. Marines Corps Reserves, Christopher E. Roy, 26, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick surrounded by his loving family and friends. Christopher was born in Somerville and resided in Middlesex Borough where he graduated from Middlesex High School in 2005. He attended Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church and was a member of Boy Scout Troop 148 where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
He attended the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, NJ where he earned a BA degree in Architecture in 2012. Before completing his degree, Chris trained for the U.S. Marine Corps
Reserves in 2009 where he had most recently achieved rank of Corporal. He worked for Jacobson & Co. in Elizabeth part time while still in school. Since graduation, he was promoted to project coordinator/safety manager. Chris also enjoyed snowboarding, camping, playing guitar and was very artistic. In addition, he participated in the Tough Mudder race in 2012 for the Wounded Warriors Project. He was a devoted son, brother, grandson, fiancé, and friend to all he met. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his loving father, William G. Roy in 2007, and his loving maternal grandparents, Wilbur and Rose Meikrantz. Surviving are his loving mother, Diane Roy of Middlesex and his loving siblings, Cpl. Stephen J. Roy of Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni in Japan, and Kelly Roy of Middlesex, his loving paternal grandparents, George and Betty Roy of Middlesex, and his beloved fiancée, Erin May of Basking Ridge.
Visitation hours will be Wednesday, May 29 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Rd., Middlesex. Additional parking will be available across the street at the Middlesex Elks Lodge
, 545 Bound Brook Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30 AM on Thursday, May 30 at Our Lady Of Mount Virgin Church, 600 Harris Ave., Middlesex.
