David W. Sharpe

David W. "Ranger Dave" Sharpe, 70, of the Forked River section of Lacey Township, died Saturday at home.
Mr. Sharpe was employed as a Special Education Teacher for 40 years. For the past 25 years, he was employed with the Lacey Township Board of Education before retiring in 2008.
Born in Wickenburg, AZ, he resided in both the Forked River section of Lacey Township and Fort Myers, FL.
Dave was a part of the Popcorn Park family for over 25 years dedicating his life to the Zoo and its animals. He was a longtime spokesperson for the, "Pet of the Week Adoptions", on WOBM, a Community Presentator for the Popcorn Park Zoo, and a Certified Animal Control Officer. He was an active member of CART - County Animal Response Team for Ocean County. He also worked with therapy dogs at the Ocean County Library and various nursing homes.
Along with his love of animals, he was very involved with the Special Olympics
and Special Needs Soccer and was actively engaged with coaching various youth sports during his lifetime.
Dave's quick wit and positive outlook will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his brother, Roger "Hawkeye" Sharpe.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Linda M. Bogden-Sharpe; a son, Chris Sharpe, Barnegat; a daughter, Leigh Ann C. Staudenmeier, Quakertown, PA; three stepsons, Robert Kaplarczuk, Fort Myers, FL, James Kaplarczuk, Beachwood, and Stephen Kaplarczuk, Forked River; his twin sister, Anne Boehringer, Doylestown, PA; four grandchildren, Madeline, Michael, Cecily, and Emma; his best buddy, Rusty; and Tux and Taffy.

Relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dave would be appreciated to the Popcorn Park Zoo, Post Office Box 43, Forked River, NJ 08731.
