David "Doc" Wilson Jr.

David "Doc" Wilson Jr., 95, of Keansburg, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 in Bayshore Community Hospital. He was born October 26, 1917 in Atlantic City, NJ, Son of the late David Wilson and the late Marquerite Reigel. He worked as a Oil & Tar Handler on Barges & Ships in Harrison, NJ for 27 years for Public Service Electric & Gas retiring in 1979. Doc was a Medical Tech in the US Army during WWII and was on one of the first boats to land on Normandy Beach on D-Day. He received numerous Medals and Citations.

He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Dorothy Mae Wilson (1969); 2nd wife, Elizabeth Walsh Wilson (2003) and 2 sisters, Dora and Eleanor. Surviving are stepson & daughter-in-law, Robert & Mary Walsh; stepdaughter, Doris Walsh Geer; grandchildren, Robert & Elizabeth Walsh, James Walsh, Cheryl & David Ward, Earl Geer, Michael & Sharon Geer; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Jimmy Walsh, Keri, Kate & Chris Ward, Athena & Fallon Geer, Gianni & Antonio D'Acquisto; niece, Rena Wriggins; several other nieces & nephews; and special dear friends, Ernie & Jean Shutt, Ernie Shutt, Veronica Foley & Helen Sweeney.

Friends will be received 7-9pm, Friday, Sept. 13 at the Laurel Funeral Home, 201 Laurel Ave., West Keansburg, NJ 07734. Funeral Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at 10am at Laurel Funeral Home with an interment to follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.
