Diana S. Boyes
Palm Beach Gardens, FL
Diana S. Boyes, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2012, her favorite day of the year. Diana had courageously battled cancer for a year and a half before her passing. Diana was the beautiful, loving wife of Bill Boyes, her true love and best friend, whose soul and spirit will forever be intertwined with hers. Diana is survived by her four children: daughter, Laura Butler Cruz, and husband, Rick, of Florence, New Jersey; her stepsons, Chris (of Charlotte, North Carolina), Jeff (of Del Mar, California), and Tad and his wife, Kim (of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida), and her mother, Anna (Marhevka) Sabo of Whiting, New Jersey. Diana loved the Boyes boys and Kim as if they were her own and they gladly returned the full measure of her love.
Diana was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, on October 16, 1946, as the only child of Joseph and Anna (Marhevka) Sabo. Diana and Bill both graduated Perth Amboy High School in 1963 and dated as college sweethearts. She attended Montclair State University in Upper Montclair, New Jersey, and graduated with a business education degree. Diana taught business education courses for the following New Jersey Boards of Education: Carteret, Perth Amboy and Paramus. Many years later, Diana returned to college to earn her MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1987. Always involved, Diana served on the PTA Board of St. Steven's School, as well as of her own church, St. John's Orthodox Church, both in Perth Amboy. Diana worked as a parent advisor for Mother Seton High School in Clark, New Jersey. During the 1980's Diana was elected to serve as a Church Trustee for St. John's Orthodox Church, the only woman serving on the Board at that time and only the second woman to ever be elected to the post. She served a second term of office from 1999 to 2002. During the late 1970's Diana served as Office Administrator for the law firm of Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Later, Diana went on to earn her credentials (Ph.R. Benefits Professional Compensation Professional) in the Human Resources field, and worked as Corporate and Field Sales HR Manager for Imo Industries in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and later as the Director of Human Resources for Kyowa Pharmaceutical in Princeton, New Jersey. After moving to Florida in 2004 to marry Bill Boyes, Diana worked at Bill's law firm, Boyes & Farina, P.A., for two years and then started her own HR consulting firm named HR HelpDesk, Inc. For many years Diana worked tirelessly on Perth Amboy High School Class of 1963 reunion efforts, most recently the 50th reunion scheduled for October of this year. In spite of her always busy schedule, Diana was foremost a great mom. For a period of time, she raised her daughter, Laura, as a single parent. Diana and Bill loved to travel together throughout the United States, especially the western States, attend concerts of all kinds (Bon Jovi, The Eagles, Stones, and other classic rock bands) and especially loved dancing to their favorite classic rock songs. Watching Diana dance would always light up any room.
In addition to her children, Diana is survived by many cousins and very dear friends who were privileged to have shared their lives with her. Diana was predeceased by her father, Joseph, in 1991 and by her maternal grandparents, Nicholas and Anna Marhevka, and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Esther Sabo.
