Dorothy Hlivak died Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Centra State Hospital in Freehold. She was 88. Born in New Brunswick, she had lived in Metuchen before moving to North Brunswick eight years ago. Mrs. Hlivak worked as a telephone operator for New Jersey Bell in New Brunswick for 32 years and she enjoyed playing bingo. She was also a Verizon Pioneers Lifetime member.
She is predeceased by her husband, Michael Hlivak. Surviving are her daughter, Kathy Pitman of North Brunswick; two grandchildren, Michael Speechley of Delaware and Karen Pitman of North Brunswick; a great granddaughter, Victoria Speechley of Delaware; her sister, Margaret Nordhaus of Bridgewater and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of Mt. Virgin RC Church in New Brunswick. Burial will follow in St. Peters Cemetery in New Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick on Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m.
