Ellard G. "Red" Jacklin, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013. Red was born to John G and Lera (Summers) Jacklin on Jan. 23, 1933 in Timmins, Ontario, Canada. He moved from Sarnia, Ontario, Canada to Carteret, N.J. in 1979, where he met his loving wife of 32 years, Susan Self Jacklin. As a member of UA Local 663 of the Plumbers and Pipefitters, Red worked in various locations all over Canada, the United States and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He was employed by Specialty Welding in Canada and PJS Construction Co. in Carteret, NJ as a Construction Superintendent before becoming self-employed in 2000. He was well known and admired in his field. Red and Susan moved to Homosassa, FL. Red loved to travel, especially cruising and time spent with family in Northern Ontario. Before his illness, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and cards. He was an avid reader. Red will be sadly missed by his constant companion, Remy. The loyalty of his pets was a testament to Red's love of animals. He was a "dog whisperer" before the phrase was coined.

Red was predeceased by his infant son, Gerald W. Jacklin; his brother, Brian Jacklin and his brother-in-law, Robert Fowler. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Susan Self Jacklin of Homosassa, FL; and adoring children, Brenda Jacklin, Fredricton, NB; Brant (Charmaine) Jacklin, Camlachie, Ontario; Wayde (Linda) Jacklin, Washego, Ontario; Mark (Suzan) Jacklin, Julie (Ron Smith) Lamb, John (Caroline) Jacklin all of Sarnia, Ontario; Joy (Brien) Mickley, Howell, NJ and Jay Mason Kondrk, Homosassa, FL. Red is also survived by his adored eighteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Alan (Joan) Jacklin, Camlachie, Ontario; his sisters, Margaret Fowler, St. Thomas, Ontario; Patricia (Ed) Blair of Castlegar, BC and many nieces, nephews and great friends.

Services will be held in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. Donations may be made in Red's memory to the charity of your choice.
