Emma L. Crawford

Emma L. Crawford was born on August 16, 1930 to Samuel and Rebecca Coleman of Cecil, AL. She married Willie J. Crawford in 1948 and moved to Birmingham, Al where she was a staff member in the school system.

Emma was also a member of the First Baptist WestEnd church and dedicated her life to the service of the Lord. In 1978 she moved to Lakewood, NJ where she worked at Summit Nursing Home. She retired at age 58 and spent the remainder of her years traveling and celebrating milestones with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her humorous spirit and her affinity for long walks, dancing, and cooking. In her past time, she enjoyed watching classic films and mystery series and shopping.

She leaves behind children Willie Crawford Jr. (OK), Evelyn Daye (VA), Betty Merriweather (NJ), Terence Crawford (AL), Sylvester Crawford (Matoka) (GA), Sharon Small (GA) and two brothers Samuel Coleman (DE) and Freddie Coleman (deceased) and one sister Lula Simmons (PA). She is the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be loved and remembered by family, friends and acquaintances. Special thanks to the Vandyke Hospice team and everyone for their love and support during this time.

Visiting will be held from 10 am until the funeral service at 11 am at Bethel Church of God and Christ 201 MLK Drive Lakewood, NJ 08701. Lakewood Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
