Ethel S. Scalea, 89, of Brick, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012 after an extended illness. She lived an active life in Greenbriar II in Brick. She was born in the Bronx, lived in Detroit, MI and grew up in Washington Heights, NY. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper on 7th Ave in NY as well as the NJ Tobacco Company in Neptune where she met her husband, Joseph Scalea.

Joseph predeceased her, however he gifted her with and extended family, Gail Chieffo and her brother the late Joe Jr., grandchildren Lenore DeLorenzo and Michael Chieffo and their families. She is survived by her brother, Mort Fidler, his wife, Cappy, and their children Gary, Suzanne Fidler-Schaal, Lauren Nigro and their families. Special recognition belongs to Lauren Nigro, her husband Robert and their children, Carly and Mike. Lauren was Ethel's advocate for many years. She gave of her time and loving care. She was Ethel's rock.

Private funeral services are under the direction of O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. Burial will be at Beth Israel Memorial Park in Woodbridge.
