AGE: 88 • Highland Park

Evelyn (Levine) Katz, 88, passed away on Thursday, November 29,2012 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, after a brief illness. She was born and raised in New Brunswick and had lived for most of her life in Highland Park. Evelyn was a graduate of New Brunswick High School. She worked for many years in the family business, Yardage Shop in New Brunswick, as a seamstress. Evelyn also worked as an insurance clerk with Prudential Insurance Company before retiring. She was very active as the former president of the Sisterhood of Highland Park Conservative Temple, served on the Boards of Hadassah, Deborah and ARA. Evelyn reorganized the HPC Temple's Library to it's current system and worked with Meals on Wheels. Evelyn was involved with Israeli Folk Dancing with a group called the "Rockettes". She was an avid seamstress, always busy sewing for her family and friends. In her spare time, Evelyn enjoyed playing the game of "Boggle". She was the chauffeur for all of her friends, going to concerts, shopping and to Temple up until this last week in her life.

Evelyn was the daughter of the late Louis and Dora (Koven) Levine and was predeceased by her husband Stuart (1992) and brother Seymour Levine. She will be missed dearly by her daughters and sons-in-law, Rae and Yehuda Ehrlich, of Vorhees, NJ and Mira and Bruce Form, of Highland Park, NJ; her seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and sister-in-law Joyce Levine.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Highland Park Conservative Temple-Congregation Anshe Emeth, the corner of South Third Avenue and Benner Street, Highland Park, NJ. Interment to follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Gill Lane, Iselin, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ.
