Gary W. Moffat, 70, formerly of Scotch Plains and The Villages, FL passed away April 29, 2014 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Gary was born in Newark, NJ and raised in Scotch Plains. He was a graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood HS class of 1961. After graduating he served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S Hank and the U.S.S. Norris as a radioman. He spent a few years with the CIA and traveled to different countries. He was a member of the American Legion in Scotch Plains and The Tin Can Sailors in Toms River.

He was predeceased by his parents Archie and Nathalie Moffat, his step mother Grace Moffat and his brother Ron Moffat. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Virgina (Wolferz) Moffat and his son Scott. He is also survived by 5 cousins and several nieces and many wonderful friends.

Gary loved going to garage sales and flea markets. If he thought he could use it, he bought it. Every day faithfully he would watch Jerry Springer, Judge Judy and Jeopardy.

Visiting will be Saturday 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. Funeral services will begin at 5:00pm. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to The NJ Office, Center Pointe II, Suite 103, 1160 Route 22 East, Bridgewater, NJ 08807 or the American , PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 would be appreciated.
