George A. Fendt, 81, of Edison died on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Born in Jersey City, he has resided in Edison for 48 years. George was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion T. Nulty Post 471 in Iselin. He was employed by Mezzaro Brothers in New York City as a purchasing clerk, before his retirement.

He was predeceased by his wife Eileen (Laffan) Fendt in 1997 and a granddaughter Kimberly Ann Fendt.

Surviving are four sons George A. Jr., and his wife Linda of Pennsylvania, Thomas W., and his wife Maria of Linden, Michael, his caretaker, of Edison, Robert and his wife Kathy of Pennsylvania; a daughter Alice Marie (Fendt) Kelly and her husband James of Monmouth Junction. He is also survived by three grandchildren April, James Michael Kelly and Patrick Thomas Kelly; three step-grandchildren Connie, Christopher and Diana.

Services will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home 568 Middlesex Ave. (RT 27) Metuchen; interment will follow at Cloverleaf Memorial Park in Woodbridge. Visitation is Friday 2-4 & 7-9.
