Gregory M. Almasi, 68, of Woodbridge passed away Friday, April 4th at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick with his wife at his side. Born in Perth Amboy, Gregg lived in Woodbridge for many years.

He was a graduate of Woodbridge High School and went into the United States Army where he served his country during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Gregg went into the family business, "Almasi Trucking Company". Gregg later opened the Avenel Liquor's for twenty seven years and then went to work for the Woodbridge Board of Education where he was employed as a custodian and retiring in 2011. He was a member of St. James R.C. Church, Woodbridge, the Hungarian American Club, the Woodbridge Elks, Avenel VFW Post #1764, a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Avenel, and was one of the founding members of the Avenel VFW Honor Guard Motorcycle Club. He is survived by his loving wife of forty three years who he met as a childhood friend and marrying after returning home from the Vietnam War, Rose Marie Almasi, his children Tara Casaliggi and her husband Rich of Woodbridge, Tom Almasi of Avenel, his sister Sheryl Beyer, two grandchildren Luke, Holly and his nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin on Tuesday 10:00 am from the GERITY & CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 411 Amboy Avenue, Woodbridge followed a 10:30 am Mass of Resurrection from St. James R.C. Church, with entombment at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Monday 4pm to 8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the .
