Joseph Adamcik, 61, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, with his loving family and friends by his side. Joe was born in Scranton, PA, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Homnick) Adamcik; he lived in Throop, PA until the age of nine, settling to Manville in 1959. Joseph was a graduate of Manville High School Class of 1968 and received an associate's degree in marketing from Somerset Community College. He faithfully served his country with the United States Navy
during the Vietnam War
. Joe was presently employed as a heavy equipment operator at Stavola Construction in Old Wick and prior to had worked for twenty-two years for Dallenbach Sand Company. Joseph was a very special person who loved spending time with his family and friends. Joe was a huge Yankees, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Nascar fan. Joe was very active at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church where he was a lector, belonged to the choir and the Holy Name Society and taught CCD for the 9th Grade. Joe was an avid bowler since childhood and threw a 300 game in the 1990's.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his father-in-law, Michael Kosko, Sr. in 2008 and his beloved dog, Misty. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Doris (Kosko) Adamcik, whom he joined hands in marriage with on October 13, 1984. He is survived by his son, Joseph of East Windsor; daughters, Veronica of Bridgewater, Melissa Spagnolo and her husband Matthew of Bloomfield, NJ, and Jennifer of Manville. Also surviving are his sister, Ann Lewis of Manville; mother-in-law, Jane Kosko of Somerset; brothers-in-law, Michael Kosko and his wife Sharon of South River, NJ and Steven Kosko and his wife Linda of Louisburg, NC; three nephews, a niece, his puppy, Riley, and many adoring family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Wednesday, July 11 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 8-8:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 12 beginning 8:30 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Manville. Committal words and interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
