Katherine Scaletti Tate Marcello

Katherine Marcello died on Monday evening at the Bayshore Health Care Center in Holmdel. She was 92 years old. Mrs. Marcello was born in New Brunswick and resided in Parlin since 1953. While in Parlin, Mrs. Marcello was a parishioner at St. Bernadette's R.C. Church. She moved to Old Bridge in 2008 where she lived with her daughter, Gloria. Mrs. Marcello was employed as a seamstress at various garment companies in the New Brunswick area and in South River. She volunteered as a Foster Grandparent to the handicapped children of the Woodbridge State School. She enjoyed playing Bingo and the occasional trip to Atlantic City.
She was predeceased by her husband James Tate in 1967. She was also predeceased by her grandson; Matthew Black, her 9 brothers and her 3 sisters. Mrs. Marcello is survived by her children; James T. Tate and his wife Maureen of Marlboro, Gloria Jean Dolman of Old Bridge, Kathleen Black and her husband George of East Brunswick, Elizabeth Szkodny and her husband Robert of Bridgewater, and Patricia Hays of Parlin. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Sharon Nigro, Lisa Dolman, James T. Dolman, Kasey Ruggia and her husband Thomas, Kris Federici and her husband Jason, Jaclyn Hays, Peter Hays and Lauren Szkodny 14 great grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will take place on Friday at 10:30 AM at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick.
