Kathleen Mary Schin Sharar Hagedorn

AGE: 57 • Spotswood

Kathleen Mary Schin Sharar Hagedorn, 57, entered into eternal peace with the Lord on Thursday November 29, 2012, in the presence of her family and friends at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was raised in East Brunswick, but had lived in Spotswood for the past 38 years.

She is survived by her husband Wayne; daughter Melissa Sharar; granddaughter Joelle; brother Frank Schin and wife Lynn; sister Patricia Schiessl and husband Rein; brother Andrew Schin and wife Barbara; brother Joseph Schin and wife Janet, and many nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude toward her many friends such as Ruth Dorsey and Elisa Pontieri, who supported her throughout her courageous, long battle with breast cancer. She worked for East Brunswick Public Schools Child Nutrition Department beginning in 1983 in various positions such as head cook at the high school and as the manager of Hammarskjold until she retired in 2009. She enjoyed spending time with family, working with her friends, playing cards and Scrabble, going to Atlantic City and Ocean City, Sunday family dinners, rooting for the Steelers and visits to the beach.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. in The BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, followed by a 10:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception RC Church, Spotswood. In lieu of flowers, Kathy requested that donations be made to the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation, 1122 Clifton Avenue, Clifton, NJ 07013, or other organizations that support breast cancer.
