KEVIN W. "GEESE" ARTKE
AGE: 55 SCOTCH PLAINS
Kevin W. "Geese" Artke, 55, of Scotch Plains, died November 10, 2010 at Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth. Born in Summit NJ, Kevin was raised and has lived his whole life in Scotch Plains. "Geese" was an avid bowler, bowling for many years at Stirke & Spare in Green Brook. He was a member of the Metro Furniture Classics League, Monday nights, The Murray Hill Men's League on Thur. nights, a 700 club member, and in 2002 bowled a perfect game, a 300. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast, riding motorcycles for over 20 years. Kevin worked as a painter with his father A.Artke and Son painting business for 20 years, and for the past 17 years has worked for the Westfield Board of Education as a mechanics helper.
Kevin is predeceased by his parents Patricia and Alfred. He is survived by his wife Catherine A. (nee Hayles), son and daughter Jayson S. and Cindy Merlino, sisters Deyna Schwierring, Karon Hartman and Adele Baudoux, Grandchildren Logan & Gavin Merlino and many nieces and nephews.
Service Saturday, November 13, 10am at the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains, 1937 Westfield Avenue, Scotch Plains. Interment: Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, 2-4 and 7-9pm at the funeral home. Letters of condolences may be left at: www.therossifuneralhome.com
