Marie A. "Mitzi" Bader

Marie A. "Mitzi" Bader, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at Arbors Care Center, Toms River. Born and raised in Perth Amboy, Mitzi was predeceased by her parents, Frank, Sr. and Ann Marie Bader; her brother, Frank Bader, Jr. and his wife, Betty; her sister, Catherine Fitzmorris and her husband, Thomas. She is survived by her niece, Ann Marie Vona; her nephews, Thomas Fitzmorris and his wife, Laurie and Francis Fitzmorris and his wife, Elaine.

Mitzi graduated from All Souls Hospital School of Nursing, Morristown in 1940. She received her Nurse Anesthetist Accreditation from Mary Immaculata Hospital, New York in 1942. She worked at Newark City Hospital for 30 years. In 1972 she became the first director of the School of Anesthesia at Charlotte Memorial Hospital, Charlotte, N.C. She was very active in the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists serving as president of the New Jersey Chapter in 1965 and National President in 1968. She was honored by AANA for attending their national convention 50 years in a row. She retired in 1982 and returned to New Jersey. She had many caring and loving family, friends and former students all around the country.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 11:30am at The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals," 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Perth Amboy.
