AGE: 75 • Dunellen
Mary Kovalchick of Dunellen, New Jersey passed away on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was 75. Born October 16, 1937, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was the youngest of 14 children to Lucy (Sites) and Charles Steinbrenner. She had very fond memories of growing up in Mountain Top, PA where several of her siblings and many nieces and nephews still reside. She will be laid to rest by her mother and father and siblings. Mary met her husband, Joseph Kovalchick, while at a square dance in 1956. They soon married and moved to Dunellen in 1957. She worked as a key punch operator for Allstate and as a technician for Mylar Electronics in Piscataway until her retirement in 1999. Upon retirement she spent her time devoted to her passions, needlework, crocheting and gardening. She was always working on a crochet or cross stitch project, which her children and grandchildren proudly display. Mary enjoyed going on trips with her senior group, visiting family and friends. A spiritual woman, Mary found much comfort participating in her church's bible study.
Mary is survived by her husband, Joe of 56 years, and 5 children and their spouses, Debra Wall (James), Joseph (Pat), David (Bridget), Linda Veloso (Manny) and Donna Stamper (Rich). She took great pride in the accomplishments of her 12 grandchildren, Katherine, Rachel, Joseph, Trevor, Breanna, Brad, Manny, Emma, David, Kelly, Lilly and Chase.
Family and friends are invited to attend viewing services at Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave. in Dunellen, on Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. A 10:00AM Mass will be held at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dunellen on Friday, followed by internment in Albert Cemetery in Mountain Top, PA.
