AGE: 93 • Hackensack
Mary Masiello, 93, of Hackensack, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was one of eight children born to Pasquale and Antonetta Mucciolo and was a native of Jersey City. Since 1999, she has made her home in Hackensack. Mary was a part-time worker for Macy's Herald Square and the Glove Shop in Jersey City for many years. She volunteered for more than 20 years at Point Pleasant and Brick Hospitals. No matter the weather, Mary virtually never missed her weekly Sunday Mass. She was interested in all things (save sports) and an avid reader even to the end. Mary lived life simply and was tireless in her efforts to make life brighter for family and friends.
Her supreme delight was to cook dinner for her children, her two grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. As it would turn out, the last time was this past Christmas. Her entire family feasted not only on her superb cooking but also at the table of her immense wisdom!
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Sam Masiello who passed away on Jan. 2, 1988. She is survived by her three children, Marianne D'Amico, Reverend Monsignor Joseph P. Masiello, Pastor of Holy Trinity Church, Westfield and Bernadette Lowenburg and her husband Richard, along with her grandchildren, Paula Visingardi and her husband Frank, and Mary Ryba and her husband Robert. She will also be deeply missed by her nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Rose, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and two great-great-nieces. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by both family and friends.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Holy Trinity Church located at the corner of Westfield Ave. and First Street in Westfield. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Church or one's favorite charity.
