Muriel G. Jones, 93, passed away peacefully at her home in Scotch Plains on March 20, 2013. Born in Plainfield on December 18, 1919, daughter of Claus and Hulda Gustafson, she had lived in Westfield before moving to Scotch Plains over 40 years ago. For the past eight years she loved spending the majority of her time living in Sarasota, Florida, with her daughter and son-in-law.

Muriel originally worked as a secretary for Johns-Manville Corp., having changed careers to become a nursery school teacher at the Turnabout Nursery School in Westfield. She enjoyed volunteering at the Scotch Plains Fanwood Thrift Shop. Muriel loved spending time with her family at the Jersey shore, having spent 16 years at her house in Normandy Beach.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Norman Eby Jones, who died in 1983. Surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Betty Gustafson of Scotch Plains, two daughters and spouses, Beverly and John Charters of Westfield, and Shirley and Reginald Vincent of Lenox, MA, as well as four married grandchildren Brian Charters, Kathryn Bree, David Vincent, Sarah Preston and their spouses, seven great-grandchildren, and devoted neighbors and friends.
