Paul D. Zelanko

Paul D. Zelanko age 64 of South River passed away peacefully on Sunday September 22, 2013 at his home with his loving family at his side. Born in New Brunswick he has resided in South River all of his life. Paul was a graduate of Penn State University
where he earned his master's in Metallurgy working as an environmental engineer for Hercules Inc in Parlin for 25 years retiring in 2009. Mr. Zelanko was a member and president of the South River Board of Health serving for the past 20 years, a member of the South River Environmental Shade Tree Commission and voted the 2011 South River Home Town Hero recipient. Paul was the owner of several thoroughbred race horses and a lifelong member of Saints Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church where he was a member and president of the Russian American Youth Group.
He is predeceased by his parents Paul & Olga Sitze Zelanko. Surviving are his wife of 38 ½ years Leslie Carson Zelanko, his daughters Andrea Zelanko of South River and Paula Zelanko and her husband Todd Prisco of Eagleville, Pennsylvania, his sister and brother in law Audrey & Thomas Pituk of Wenonah, N.J. his nephew Nicholas Pituk, his uncle John Sitze of South River and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Avenue South River followed by a 10:30am service at Saints Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church in South River with burial to follow at Saints Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Cemetery, South River. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Panahida service with choir will be held Tuesday 7pm at the funeral home. The family has requested that donations in Paul's name be made to Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Perpetual Care Fund, South River Food Bank and V.N.A. Hospice of Central Jersey.
