Raymond C. Bell, 80, of Point Pleasant, formerly of Jersey City, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Mr. Bell was a firefighter for the Jersey City Fire Department, Engine 18, for 27 years before retiring in 1986. Mr. Bell served his country as a member of the National Guard. He was a communicant of St. Martha's R.C. Church in Point Pleasant. Born and raised in Jersey City, he moved to Point Pleasant in 1990.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Hannah Bell; brothers, John J. and Robert G. Bell, as well as a son-in-law, Gregory Nolan. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Irene G. (Cullen) Bell; 2 sons, John J. Bell and his wife Caroline of Jersey City, and Thomas G. Bell and his wife Francine of Brick; 2 daughters, Jean Bell Nolan of Point Pleasant, and Mary Ann Bell of Staten Island; a brother, Edward Bell and his wife Grace of East Brunswick; a sister-in-law, Helen Bell of Jersey City (the late brother Robert's wife; 8 grandchildren, Gregory, Michael, John, Steven, Lauren, Kathleen, Matthew and Shannon; 2 great-grandchildren, Connor and Ian; and many nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Visiting will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25 at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26 at St. Martha's R.C. Church in Point Pleasant. Interment will be held privately.
