Raymond J. Thomson, 72, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. He was born in New Brunswick and was raised in Fair Lawn. Raymond served his country in the United States Army for two years, and settled with his family in Hazlet nearly 40 years ago. He was a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 641. A devoted grandfather, and lifelong Yankees and NY Giants fan. He enjoyed coaching his sons' baseball teams at HYAL and saltwater fishing whenever he had the opportunity.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Roberta (nee Sands); his son, Raymond and his wife Alexandra of Blakeslee, PA; his son, Michael and his wife Grace of Cranbury; his son, Eric of Old Bridge; and his brother, Bruce and his wife Diane of Santa Rosa, CA. He was also the loving grandfather of five grandchildren that he adored, Julia, Brandon, Ava, Matthew and Marco, and several nieces and nephews.

Raymond will be reposing from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home, 1735 Route 35, Middletown. Mass of Christian burial will be at 12 noon Friday, Jan. 4 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Holmdel. Private cremation to follow.
