Robert "Bob" L. Tupper, Sr.

Robert "Bob" L. Tupper Sr., age 71, of Lanoka Harbor, formerly of Lakewood, passed away on Sunday February 24, 2013 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ surrounded by his loving family. He overcame many obstacles with great determination and courage in his long battle with several illnesses. His doctors called him "The Miracle Man". Bob was born on April 4, 1941, at the Royal Pines Hospital, Pinewald (Bayville), NJ and was the son of the late Thomas G. Tupper, Sr. and the late Marjorie Anderson Pszczola. As a young boy in Lakewood he enjoyed watching movies with his brothers at The Strand Theater where their father was the projectionist. Along with his passion for movies, Bob loved music, gardening, photography, painting, discussions on politics and a good game of UpWords. Bob stressed the importance of family. He loved them very much and was very proud of their achievements. He also was very fond of his dog, Sam who was his constant companion for many years. Bob was a 1959 graduate of Lakewood High School and a lifelong resident of Ocean County. Before his retirement Bob worked in construction as a plumber, floor layer, and a carpenter. He was a member of Ocean County Carpenters Local Union No. 2018, where he had served as trustee.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 51 years, Ehti Virunurm Tupper; daughter, Tracey Clark of Rockaway, NJ; daughter, Robin Keown and her husband Avery of Cape Coral, FL; son Robert Jr. and his girlfriend Elizabeth Emery of Harrisburg, PA; son, Richard of Lanoka Harbor; sister, Tina Hall of Howell; Brother, Ted Tupper of Enola, PA; mother-in-law, Selma Virunurm of Bridgeton; brother-in-law, Mati Virunurm and his wife Roxanna of Ashburn, VA; brother-in-law, Harry Virunurm of Vineland; 6 cherished grandchildren, Nikki (Zech) Hall, Brandi (Jay) Vierra, Bailey Clark, Devin Clark, Robert L. Tupper III, and Elizabeth Tupper; 6 adored great-grandchildren, Nolan, Nova and Norah Hall, and Benjamin, Zoe, and Riley Vierra; and many friends, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and extended family in Estonia. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas G. Tupper. Jr, and Gene D. Tupper, Sr.; sister Marjorie Alice Tupper; father-in-law, Harald Virunurm; and brother-in-law, Valdeko Virunurm.
A Memorial Service and interment will be held at a later date at Northvillle Estonian Lutheran Church, Bridgeton, NJ. Arrangements are being handled by Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Main Street, Forked River.
