Theodore "Ted" Edward Silkowski

Theodore "Ted" Edward Silkowski, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 at Monmouth Care Center in Long Branch. He is predeceased by his wife of fifty-four years, Marie Torre Silkowski, and six older siblings, Adam, Frank, Chester, John, Florence and Helen. Ted was a loving husband and father and is survived by his only daughter, Ann-Marie Kammerer, and her husband, Kenneth, of Navesink, NJ. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Torre.

Ted was a WWII veteran and served for 4 years in the US Navy on the USS Renshaw. He retired in 1989 from the New York Postal Service where he worked for over 40 years. Born in Jersey City, Ted lived most of his life in North Bergen, NJ before moving to Oceanport in 2002 after the death of his wife. He had many friends at Oceanport Gardens Senior Building, where he lived independently and enjoyed socializing and helping his neighbors. Ted was a popular resident who will be missed by many loving friends in the building.

Ted's family held a private memorial service at John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank followed by a repast lucheon in his honor at the Molly Pitcher Inn. Both Ted and his wife Marie have been laid to rest at Woodbine Mausoleum in Oceanport, NJ.
