Timothy R. Osborn

Timothy R. "Timmy" Osborn of Toms River, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Tim was born May 21st 1959 in Point Pleasant, NJ, the oldest of nine children born to Everett R. and Patricia A. (nee Cagney) Osborn. Tim grew up in Bricktown and graduated in 1977 from Brick Township High School. He was a member of the Brick Dragons 1974 State Championship Football Team. He attended Glassboro State College before joining the New Jersey State Police in 1982. At this time Tim also began his coaching career, first at his alma mater Brick from 1982-1999 and then at Toms River North where he had the experience and honor coach his two sons Matt and Brad of whom he was extremely proud. Finally, in 2006 Tim got his dream opportunity and was able to establish his own program at Jackson Liberty. It was Tim's passion to teach, coach and mentor young people and help prepare them for life's challenges.
Tim married his beautiful wife Jeanne in November 1983 and together they had two sons Matthew in 1984 and Brad in 1986. He retired from the New Jersey State Police in 2007 after 25 years of service at the rank of sergeant first class, the other troopers were a second family to Tim and he established many lifelong friendships. After retiring Tim began his second career as teacher and coach in Jackson. Tim had an impact on everyone he met and there was nothing he wouldn't do to help his family, friends and students. Tim will be sorely missed by all.
Tim was predeceased by his parents Everett R. and Patricia A. Osborn and his nephew Richard Osborn. He is survived by his wife of 29 years Jeanne, sons Matthew and Brad, his brothers and sister Michael (Jen), Richard (Vivian), Charles (Bridget), Joseph (Debbie), Mary Hunt (Jeff), James, Robert (Jen), and Daniel. His father and mother-in-law Frank and Nancy Sorrentino, brother and sisters in law Joe and Lori Sorrentino, Nancy and Ed Oppel, Phyllis and Bill Baynes, Francine and Mike Strazella and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including his brothers and sisters within his NJSP family and Shore Coaching Community.
Visitation will be on Wednesday 1:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. Mass of a Christian Burial will be Thursday 10:30am at St. Luke's RC Church 1674 Old Freehold Rd., Toms River, please arrive at the funeral home 9:30am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River.
