Veronica G. Conrad

Veronica G. (Coakley) Conrad, 68, of Cranford, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012, at home. Mrs. Conrad was a teacher for 26 years at the Washington and the Lincoln Schools in Garwood, she also taught at Battle Hill School in Union from 1966 to 1969. She was the first Garwood Teacher of the Year when the program was introduced in 1983. A lifelong member of Mensa, she graduated summa cum laude from Newark State Teachers College in 1966, where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
She was predeceased by her brother, Paul Coakley and her parents, Thomas and Ellen Coakley. Surviving are her devoted husband of 47 years, Raymond Conrad; 2 loving daughters, Suzanne Licks (David) and Nancy Korsun (Keith); 5 beloved grandchildren, Andrew, Allison, and Amanda Licks, and Alex and Lily Korsun; and her loving mother-in-law, Dorothea Conrad.
Friends are invited to visit 2-4 and 7-9 PM Thursday at the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Ave. West in Cranford. Mass of Christian Burial 12:30 PM Friday at St. Helen's Church, Westfield. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
