Albert G. Takach

AGE: 75 • Colonia

Albert G. Takach of the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in New Brunswick. He was 75 years old. Born in Perth Amboy, he resided in Colonia for the past 50 years. Albert was a 1955 Graduate of Perth Amboy High School and went on to attend the Middlesex County Vocation and Technical Schools. He was a 40 year member of The First Presbyterian Church of Perth Amboy where he was currently serving on the Committee of Greeters and Ushers; and was a former Trustee and a former member of the Board of Deacons. An avid bowler, he bowled in various leagues in the Middlesex County area; and was a member of the CIA Steelworkers Union. Mr. Takach was employed as a Millwright with Indiana General Corporation in Keasbey from 1957 until 1975, a Tool & Die Maker with Reynolds Aluminum in Avenel from 1975 until 1982, and retired as Superintendent of Hazelwood Cemetery in Rahway in 1996 after 14 years of service to the cemetery.

He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Mary Kish Takach. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan Krogh Takach; two daughters, Donna Petersen and her husband, Eric, of Matawan and Dawn Lensen and her husband, Joseph, of Monroe; 4 granddaughters, Amanda Lensen, Rachel Lensen, Alexandra Petersen and Andrea Petersen.

Funeral will take place on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Vanderhoven Chapel on the grounds of Hazelwood Cemetery, 64 Lake Avenue, Colonia. Interment will be in Hazelwood Cemetery, Rahway. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (www.Costello-koyen.com), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel, NJ 07001. A prayer service will take place Sunday evening, 7:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to The First Presbyterian Church of Perth Amboy, 45 Market Street, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861 or The American Heart Association, 2550 Route #1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
