Algalee Sheppard Reeder was born August 4, 1922 in Newberry South Carolina to Rosa B. and Oliver Sheppard. She attended school and finished her education in Newberry where met and married Henry M. Reeder in 1942. They migrated to Westfield, NJ in 1943. They lived in Westfield and Scotch Plains (Jerseyland) until 1964. In 1964, the family moved to Plainfield, NJ where she lived until her death. Algalee worked for many years as a domestic in Westfield and Scotch Plains. She was employed a Housekeeper for Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield for 15 years until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening and baking and was often seen on one of her walks through the community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Reeder Sr. in 1993; she was also preceded in death by her sons, Henry M. Reeder, Jr., Elijah, Rufus and Donald. She leaves to mourn her sons, John A. (Caroline) Charlotte, North Carolina, Hubert, Herman P., Oliver Leroy and her daughter Regina A. of Plainfield; her sister Mabel Tobe; brother, Marcellus Sheppard of Washington D.C.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Rescue House of Prayer, 1921 Roosevelt Street, South Plainfield, NJ. Visitation 9am, Services 10am. Arrangements by Judkins Colonial Home of Plainfield, NJ.
