Eric Watson Obituary
Plainfield
Transitioned from labor to reward suddenly but peacefully at his home on July 17, 2016 . Eric was born in Milford DE., to the late Elwood J. and Susan F. Watson on July 24, 1957 and was a 32 year resident of Plainfield. Mr. Watson was employed as the Director of Plainfield Public Works and Urban Planning, and previously as the executive director of the Plainfield Municipal Utility Authority for 16 yrs. Mr. Watson was a graduate of Rutgers University, Livingston Campus and completed graduate course work at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. He was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated and Stone Square Lodge #38 F&A .M. P.H.A. 32nd degree, past Potentate Golconda Temple #24 Mystic Shrine. Preceded in death by his parents Elwood J. and Susan F. Watson Eric leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of31 years Tanya Watson, his beautiful daughters Erika and Korey Watson, granddaughter Maliyah Richards, brothers Bruce, Stephen(Kerri) and Dr. David Watson, sisters Marsha Johnson (Alvin), Susan Watson- Holloway and Stephanie Watson and Mother in law Dr. Willa Cofield and a host of beloved family and friends. , Visitation will be held Friday 1-5PM at the Plainfield City Hall Library. Alpha Phi Alpha and Masonic ceremonies to begin at 6:30PM , both at Plainfield High School . Community Life celebration 7:30-9PM .Funeral services will be held Saturday July 23rd Viewing 10AM Service 11AM at the Plainfield High School Arrnagments by Judkins. www.judkinscolonialhome.com

It was so sad to hear of the passing of Eric. The Johnson family (Houston, DE) send heartfelt condolences to our family the Watsons. Time and space will never separate our family tree. July 17, I learned that Eric, who I met at a gym, passed away. Although I had not seen him at the gym in quite some time I can recall our daily conversations while walking on the treadmill like they were yesterday.
I recall he was a family man and we both were fathers to daughters. We shared experiences of watching our daughters grow up and how from time to time we had to come to their rescue. We would laugh and shake our heads and agree that's what fathers do.
We would talk about being married and the rewards and challenges associated with it. We both were married over thirty years so we could relate to each other's situation. He had one up on me because he was a grandfather. He loved his granddaughter.
We talked about our respective health and how the gym was making a difference. Our conversations covered all topics. He loved to fish and he loved Delaware.
He shared some of the financial struggles he had after being out of work a long time. I told him I could relate to that too.
I wondered how he was making out since I had not seen him in the gym for awhile. I even texted him once and he said he would be coming back. He never did.
Rest in Peace my friend. You fought the good fight.
To the Eric's wife and Family - Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart.
