Malina Bailey Obituary
AGE: 98 • Plainfield
Plainfield Resident for over 80 years, Malina left our world,peacefully, on December 01, 2015 at RWJ Hospital, Rahway, NJ. Mrs. Malina Louise Hedgeman Bailey was born in Buckingham County, Virginia to Malina Hubard Tapscott Hedgeman and Bonnikay Junious Ulysses Hedgeman. Mrs. Bailey is predeceased by her parents, her husband, William N. "Bill" Bailey,Sr., daughters Virginia Elizabeth Wilson, Esther Marie and Kathryn Louise Bailey, brothers Emery Fields, Jr., Frank and Leslie Fields, and son-in-law James Wilson.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by her children, Ora L. "Poochie" Bailey Hill, William N. Bailey, Jr. (Loretta), David K. Bailey and Julie L. Washington, her sister, Daisie Marie Johnstone, Cleveland, Ohio, son-in-law Melvin J. Hill, Sr. and sister-in-law Sylvia Fields. She has 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Bailey graduated from Jefferson High School, Charlottesville, Virginia and received her Associate's Degree in Computer Science from Union County College, Springfield, NJ at age 65+. She was a member of the Mother's Club of the Grant Avenue Community Center. Mrs. Bailey was an active member of the YWCA when it was based at Bethel Presbyterian Church before the YW was racially integrated. She was an accountant and co-owner of W. Bailey Contracting for 40 years.
