His beloved children, Julianne of Hoboken; Joseph of Hillsborough; Jennylee of Colts Neck; his brother, Richard and his wife, Elizabeth and family of Monroe; his brother-in-law, Dennis Hern of Hazlet; his mother-in-law, Anna May Schellenberger of Colts Neck; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. I was hanging out with my good friend Scott Stamper at the Saint in Asbury Park last night and we were talking about the many tours I'd done. I told him one of my greatest experiences was working on the Dylan tour in '99 and having the opportunity to work with Jules. He broke the news to me that we lost him last year. So sad. Too young and talented to be taken so soon. Maybe one of the nicest and most genuine people I've ever met. Can't say enough good things about this man. Deepest condolences to all who loved him.

My daughter is doing a project about an artist who had the bulk of their fame before the year 2000. I suggested Bob Dylan since I was a fan and knew how influential he was. I then told her that I could call one of my friends who was his engineer to get some inside information. I did a search for Jules only to find he had passed.

Jules was our FoH engineer for my band in the 80's. We hit it off immediately. He was always so whitty and always positive. We would spend hours talking about Reggae and Toots and the Maytals (I had to give him my Toots album because he wouldn't give it back!) One of my funniest times with Jules was a Halloween party. Jules walked in dressed as a piece of poop - corn and all!

I'm deeply saddened and will miss this fine man. I will miss seeing that smile.

"Open your heart so wide
Let love come 'round in here, believe me
If you have that love in your own life
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, yeah"

I just learned of Jules' passing and want to express my sincerest condolences to his family. I met Jules backstage in the late 80's and whenever Dylan passed through where I was working, either here in the USA or overseas, I got backstage through Al and had a laugh with Jules. His warmth and just down to earth personality was one to behold. Rest In Peace...Jerry Bamel

I met Jules one time about 5 years ago at a Bob Dylan show In Las Vegas. He helped make it one of the most memorable experiences of my entire life, just in the few short interactions I had with him that day. Not too many people leave that kind of impression on me but Jules is a guy I will never forget. He was so cool. My condolences go to his family and friends.

“We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time” and Jules knew how to have a good time better than anybody! If he weren't such a great audio engineer, he could have easily been a professional comedian because he had that natural ability to find humor in the moment and make us all laugh! At the same time you felt the depth of his genuine character, his sensitivity, passion for life, and the proud love he always expressed he had for his family. Regrettably I was not in close contact the past decade (although never out of heart). The times we connected felt like we left off yesterday. I knew he was busy, but I took it for granted that Jules would always be around — my loss. I am relieved he is not suffering anymore. Life can be a four letter word, and right now it is.
TO: Carol Ann, Julianne, Joseph, Jennylee and family, I'm SO sorry you all got robbed! This world is just not as good without Jules here. In time, a brighter day will come and you, his great legacy, will blossom again. Aren't we all lucky we got to share an era of life with Jules! I feel someday we will all be reunited. Rest in peace my friend, before you know it, we'll all rejoin you at the party! Love and hope - Jeff Levine

I'm really sorry to learn of this. Jules was my pal, in my years w/ Bob, 2005-2009. We stayed in touch, even after I left the organization. I would e-mail.." hi Jules"...and he would reply, just saying hello, keeping up w/ cars and stuff. He made me laugh, and now I'm sad....

Very saddened by the news. Jules was one of the memorable figures backstage at Bob Dylan's shows. He always seemed to have that stable and grounded energy, with a total dedication to his work. I've had the pleasure to sit with him and the musicians on several occasions. The last time I saw him was in 2011, he was heading back to his hotel with George, laughing and laughing!! RIP Jules, you will be always remembered. My deep sympathy to his family and friends. Marianne
