AGE: 62 • Troy, WV
James J. "Coop" Cooper" age 62 of Little Cove Road, Troy, WV; departed this life suddenly on the evening of Thursday, May 18, 2017 at his residence following a short illness.
Born on November 26, 1954 in New Jersey, Jim is the son of the late James J. and Ethel Pope Cooper.
Jim was an electrician in the construction industry with 32 years experience, having retired in 2005. He was a member of IBEW Local-400 Union in NJ; and after retirement enjoyed the quiet life in West Virginia. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed mowing the yard, hunting, riding ATV's, and working on his home. He has been coming to WV for many years and has been quoted as saying " He was from New Jersey but his heart is from West Virginia". Jim also loved his pets, Snowy the cat, and his 2 dogs, Barney and Gracie. They provided him with endless love and affection.
On may 20, 2005 Jim was united in marriage to Laurie Wollermann Cooper, who survives at their Little Cove home. They were married a couple days shy of 12 years, but have been together for 30 years. Jim is the love of Laurie's life and he will be greatly missed.
Surviving is his dear son, Kevin Cooper and Fiancee Susan Zibbe of Jackson, NJ; his sister, Judy Paxton and Husband Mike of Pelzer, SC;and many friends all over the country who Jim considered family.
Jim's request of cremation has been honored and the family will have a Celebration of Life in New Jersey at a later date.

I went to school with Jimmy were very good friends, we were in 4H together , I am so sorry for your loss

Jim and his sister Judy, paralleled my sister Judy and I. Jim and I were born on the same day,in the same place. We went to the same school and I was very close to his sister. Jim's passing hurts more than I can say.
My God protect Jim's family and give them peace. Our deepest condolences to Judy and Ethel.

Jim and Laurie were the very best neighbors. Jim was the first person to greet me when I moved in across the street, bringing me a big bowl of chili and a loaf of crusty bread. He was the best, and he will be missed.
