My main memory of John is as a truly nice man. My relationship with John centered around the New Jersey Jazz Society and the New York Sheet Music Society, where he served many years as one of the greeters for the NYSMS meetings.
John always comes to mind when I go to my doctor who John also saw on my recommendation toward the end of his life.
R.I. P. John!

I did not realize that it has been five years since we lost John. I was just thinking about him the other day when I saw a book on my shelf that he had given to me.
Toward the end he was going to the doctor whom I recommended to him when he expressed unhappiness with the treatment he has been receiving. John thanked me several times for making him aware of Dr. Abraham.
Best wishes to the Maimone family. Your dad was a special man.

I was just thinking about John a few days ago. I was telling a friend about the New York Sheet Music Society meetings where John and Dolly Dawn served as the greeters at the entrance table. It was always fun to see the two of them, and enjoy their friendly greetings. Those were special days.
The New Jersey Jazz Society's Pee Wee Russell Memorial Stomp will be happening this Sunday, and that is another event that John always enthusiastically supported.

John was a truly nice man. I knew him a bit from the New Jersey Jazz Society, but we became friends when I joined the New York Sheet Music Society and found that John was the greeter, along with Dolly Dawn, at the NYSMS meetings. I occasionally gave him a ride back to New Jersey from the meetings.
We spoke on the phone from time to time. When he became seriously ill, and was not happy with his doctor, I recommended that he see my doctor, and John seemed very pleased to become a patient of Dr. Abraham.
We last spoke a couple of months ago when I offered to help him get to our Pee Wee Russell Memorial Stomp, but he said that he was too weak to do so, indicating that he was going to have hospice care.
We shall miss him, a true gentleman.
