Joseph Blumetti Obituary
North Plainfield - Joseph Blumetti, age 70, passed away following a long illness on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. Born and raised in Summit, he had lived in North Plainfield for over 45 years.
Joseph was a scholar who graduated from Raritan Valley Community College with an associates degree in English. He was a former restauranteur. Joseph was self-employed as a Classical Guitar Instructor and performer for over 55 years. He was recently employed by the French School of Music in Plainfield. He was an accomplished composer, avid reader, artist and classic movie buff. He also loved dogs, cooking, fishing and helping others.Survived by his sisters Geraldine Ruhl and Roseanne Gargiulo and her husband Mario; nephews Christopher Wesley, Raymond Mark Wesley, and Jeffrey Wesley; niece Laura Vitullo and his beloved dog Crayne. He was very loved by all his students, protégées, many close friends and he will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 2-5 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung, NJ with a 5 p.m. service. Entombment will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa's Cemetery, Summit, NJ.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his loving memory to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.

He was our son's Guitar Teacher but much more. . . He was a Role Model for him and someone who understood him at such an age.

Just heard !-----------Really feel so bad ! -------- We go back so far---I worked for his father ( loved him--Sr. taught me guitar ) as guitar teacher in the 60's-------Joe and I were in a rock band together---he was in my wedding too! -----once Summit Music center closed ----we never got together again---what a shame! always had found memories of being friends with Joe so long Brother---------------Joe Alfano

Joey was an artist a visionary and a man who had a heart which led him. He was loved and cherished by family and friends. The admiration and appreciation of his students and fellow musicians thru the years cannot be measured.We pray for his Peace and Comfort and for all of us who will miss him and honor his memory.
