Roberta Mobus Obituary

Roberta S. Mobus

AGE: 87 • formerly of Somerville

Roberta S. Mobus of Pittsgrove, N.J. passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. Born in Toledo, Ohio, she resided for many years in Somerville. She was a former member of the Monday Afternoon Club in Plainfield and the NJ DAR of the Continental Chapter in Plainfield. Roberta retired from the Department of Defense as the systems administrator contracting officer with professional designation from Air Force University Wright-Paterson AFB, Ohio. Before her employment with the Defense Department, "Bobbie," as she was known, was the Public Relations Director for Somerset Medical Center, served on the Somerville Planning Board, an Executive Secretary for the Menlo Park Merchants Association and inside sales manager at Newark Brush (now Danline, Inc.). Her late father, Paul Smith, was the Editor of the Plainfield Courier in the 1940s.

She is predeceased by her husband, E. Herbert Mobus and is survived by their three daughters, Elizabeth and husband Jerry Merrick, Judy and husband Dan Flynn, and Patricia Snover, as well as her five adoring grandchildren.

Visitation on Monday, May 13, beginning at 10:30am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30am at the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville. Interment Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Elmer Ambulance Corp., 30 Broad St., Elmer, N.J. 08318.
