Margaret C. Francisco, 77, of Bedminster passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains. She was born in Ben Avon, PA on December 2, 1938, the daughter of the late William Cooper Cuntz and Lucille Fiske Cuntz. She had resided in Basking Ridge before moving to Bedminster 46 years ago.
Marge graduated from Westfield High School, received her bachelor's degree from Skidmore College, and her master's degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University. Mrs. Francisco began her public service career as a secretary for Bedminster Township in September 1982. She soon became Bedminster Township Clerk in October 1982, and in May 1985 acquired the position of Bedminster Township Administrator. She served as administrator for 15 years before retiring in June 2000.
Marge worked at the Clarence Dillon Public Library in Bedminster for over 20 years. She was a former member of the Bedminster Township Board of Education and was a member of The Hills Crestmont Division Homeowners
Association. She was an avid NY Giants and Rutgers University Football fan. She loved spending time at the beach and was an avid reader. Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished time spent with family.
She was predeceased by her brother, William Cooper Cuntz, who died in 2004. Mrs. Francisco is survived by two daughters, Leslie W. Lester of Darien, CT and Christina F. Hickey of Westfield; a son, Peter E. Francisco of Whitefish, Montana; and 7 grandchildren, Reagan and Jack Hickey and Lucy, Chase, Connor, Katherine and Andrew Lester.
A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 182 Main Street, Gladstone on Wednesday, July 27 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Clarence Dillon Public Library, 2336 Lamington Road, Bedminster, NJ 07921 or to a local animal rescue or shelter. Arrangements are by the Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster.
